Help needed: market research

Although I’ve worked with, marketed to and written for 13-19 year olds for many, many years and am sure myself that they need and will utilise this product, I’ve decided to remove any doubt from a potential investor’s mind and commission market research… of some sort. Consider the Progress Page one bullet point longer.

I have no idea what I’m doing. I was considering asking 10 teenagers to answer a set of questions about their relationships with their favourite bands and how they tracked what they were doing; and then asking a larger set of people a broader set of questions to deliver quantitative results. However, I need to ensure these questions are properly structured so the results are not biased.

This is not a wobble, and I am sure the results will back up my theories but if not, there will be some hard questions to ask myself about how to progress.

If my theories are supported by the research then I have a greater body of evidence to support the idea and that can only be a good thing.

If anyone out there has any experience with this or knows anyone else who might be able to help please get in touch(!).

  1. I have some experience on working on unbiased and non-leading questions as I did my dissertation on them and had to rewrite the darn things more times than I like to think about. Let me know if you need help with them buddy. 🙂
